New Xbox Experience
Having been away from my Xbox360 for a while due to continuing Red Rings of Death i was looking forward to trying out the new Xbox Experience on my new Xbox360 Elite. Now that I have been using it for a few weeks i must say that i was expecting more, and i think that i might actually like the old Xbox dashboard better.
Let me explain.
In the old Xbox dashboard i quickly had access to my games, i could go online and browse in a very messy games catalog, and could chat to my friends via messages and messenger. It wasn´t the best, but it was okay. If I wanted to access the Xbox Live content like videos and games i would actively have to go and get it. I didn´t mind that solution.
The new Xbox Experience is very different. Here i am constantly bombarded with information from Xbox Live. I get the feeling that i need to buy things all the times. I constantly see the latest downloadable content, the latest videos, and updates. If i go and see my friend list i need to scroll through it all to see who is online, whereas in the old Xbox Dashboard i could just see the entire list of friends immediately when i accessed it. Also now everyone, myself included, has a cute looking avatar. I would have preferred if they had made more realistic avatars with the option of making them cartoonish. Now it just looks like the Wii.
I can understand that Microsoft wants me to have easy access to all the things that will earn them money. But as a user who already knows what i want, it annoys me to have to scroll past all these offers constantly. I hope that they are still tweaking the dashboard. But i love my Xbox so i guess i just have to live with the new Xbox Experience.
If any of you want to hook up with me on Xbox Live my gamertag is “Razumasu”.
