Life V.1.4

This is a bit of a personal post. I just wanted to do a little update on what is going on with my life, what am i doing, and what can you all expect from me and the blog in the future.

These last few months has been very hectic. With my daughter slowly getting older and older i am spending more and more time with her. She is still only 6 months old, but the days where she would sleep most of the day are gone. Now she actually wants to be entertained. So when im home i spend all her time awake playing with her. I am very much looking forward to the day when she starts enjoying video games :-)

Last semester i managed to score maximum grade (an A) in all my classes, and the immediately continued to apply for a PhD. scholarship at the IT University in Copenhagen. Its a special program they have where you can start studying your PhD. simoultanesly with finishing your M.Sc. The application took a lot of my time. Not that i didn’t know what i wanted to do in my PhD. project, but because i needed it to be… well… perfect. I will get a reply to it mid May, and i already know that i will most likely not get in. The Center for Computer Games Research has never taken a 4-year PhD. student before, so they will most likely tell me to apply again next year. But we will see what happens. As for the project itself, it is about studying and clarifying the process that player brains do when they construct their own stories about actions in open-world games. It is based partly on cognitive psychology and partly on narratology.

So the blog; i now have some really hefty exams approaching, and i am hoping to Ace them as well. That means im not sure i will have THAT much time to write things for the blog (as always happens when exams hit me). But because of that i will be writing a bunch of posts the following weeks, and set them up to be auto posted. So there should be plenty of content coming.

As for games i am playing at the moment…. Red Faction, a bunch of MMO’s, Final Fantasy XIII, Modern Warfare 2 Multiplayer, some tabletop RPG’s, and i am thinking about starting to play around with some Magic cards again. So lots is going on there.
